UnconfinedCompressionStressRelaxation.fsm
Unnconfined compression stress relaxation, using neo-Hookean solid matrix and Holmes-Mow hydraulic permeability, in a quarter disc with radius 2 mm and thickness 0.5 mm. A -0.25 mm displacement is prescribed in 1 s along the Z-direction and the stress relaxation response is analyzed for 50 000 s using logarithmically increasing time increments.

CCUniformMeshH20.fsm
Confined compression creep of a 1 mm cube, with uniform hex20 mesh along the Z direction, illustrating oscillations in effective fluid pressure in the early time response.
biphasic
CCBiasedMeshH20.fsm
Confined compression creep of a 1 mm cube, with biased hex20 mesh along the Z direction, illustrating how a biased mesh can eliminate oscillations in effective fluid pressure in the early time response.

CantileverBeamH8.fsm
Biphasic cantilever beam with sealed boundaries. This example illustrates that the total volume of a biphasic material is conserved when the fluid has not drained from the domain, however local volume within each finite element need not be conserved. When the strain field is inhomogeneous the interstitial fluid can shift inside the biphasic domain, causing volume reduction in some locations and volume increases in other locations.

SqueezedSponge.fsm
This model illustrates a 3D biphasic analysis of a rectangular domain (sponge) being squeezed at its waist. Only one octant is modeled to account for symmetry.
